a latency of 8.06 is reported when the audio quality is poor #31

I see that number fairly often, particularly if the input gain is too low or the signal path is noisy. So the confidence is probably very low. But the app still tries to give some kind of latency value.

People tend to ignore the confidence value and think 8.06 is a real number.

Maybe if the confidence is below a threshold then no latency value should be reported.

I just heard from a tester that when the latency was reported as 8.06 that the confidence was 1.0!

Unfortunately the confidence level is not currently a reliable indicator of whether the reported latency value is accurate. Instead, for now, you need to manually look at the waveform and make sure it has the characteristic shape of the attached image. If it doesn't don't trust the number. And even if the shape is correct, you need to also think about whether the number is in a reasonable range. You can tell this by looking at the labels at bottom of the graph.

My previous comment is still the current status. We're aware of the problem and have several ideas on how to solve but no schedule yet. In the mean time, please look at the waveform to confirm a good test.
