Seems this only occurs on iOS 9.x. Button works on:

Upgrading to Magento 1.9.4.5 does NOT resolve this issue, even though quite a bit was changed regarding the JavaScript around these buttons.

Add banner to top stating some features won't work if iOS 9 browser detected.

According to https://gs.statcounter.com/ios-version-market-share/mobile-tablet/united-kingdom , only 2.06% of people are still using iOS 9.3.
