What specifications does an EV Charger need to meet. Provide a link or reference to the specification - this is likely to become a marketing specification.

  1. NEC 625 (Page 25) specifies installation of EVSE, a) Circuit breakers sized for 125% of load (which would be 50A for us b) 8AWG for cable c) Length less than 25 feet d) No back-feeding from EV when grid loses power

  2. ISO 15118's Plug and Charge controls identification and authentication over IP (future standard but worth considering)

  3. IEC 62196 defines duty cycle values of Control Pilot's PWM signal a) Full IEC 61851-1: [Uploading The_ElectricalVehicle_Simulator_for_Charging_Stati.pdf…]()

  4. Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) allows cross company payment/charging (company diplomacy)

  5. Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is protocol between EVSE and network (actual communication between EVSE and servers)

  6. IEC Mode 3 IEC Modes classify structure of charger. Mode 3 is hardwired and is what EVSE stations fall under.

  7. IC-CPD Device on cord set that provides additional circuit breaker and ground monitoring

  8. NEMA 14-50R is receptacle for EVSE

  9. HOA and EVSE Interactions

  10. Huge manual including regulations and circuit tolerances

  11. IEC 62196 a) Proximity Pilot (Page 7) b) IEC 62196-1 specifies for fast charging requirements for EVSE
