Too many classes in itk and too many types and dimensions has created the
negative reputation of itk being overkill. While itk is aimed at medical
image processing, it is perfectly suited for general light-weight image
processing applications.
It seems like a good idea to have a light edition of itk aimed for general
image processing. Suggestions made in issue 13
(http://code.google.com/p/wrapitk/issues/detail?id=13) could also help
this: Imagine having the whole itk package broken to sub-packages. In this
case itk-base, could be a good choice for the light edition.
