Data collected from Africa CDC reports, specifically for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), for deaths (new and cumulative counts) are not presented in a way that enables our curation team to assign deaths by location and/or status with accuracy. We would be making assumptions that would compromise the accuracy of the data. DRC deaths have been omitted from our linelist dataset.
CFR calculations change. The denominator does not remain consistent. Some reports present death data as a percentage of confirmed cases, another among suspected cases, and another report as a mix of suspected and confirmed cases.
Our current approach is to track aggregate death data, cumulative counts by country over time, and present this as a supplemental dataset to our epidemiological linelist.
