I suspect this information will not be available, nor permitted by the DPIA. Nor have I ever seen it useful to define the relationship between the contact and case.
Going back to this and the situation of the contact, the WHO T1 form separates contact into household members and anyone outside the household. The questions from the T1 form are: Any household member presenting similar illness or symptoms Yes | No | Unknown Anyone outside the household with similar illness or symptoms? Yes | No | Unknown Date of symptom onset is collected for anyone indicated as having symptoms. The number of persons living in the same household as the patient is also collected on the T1 form. Would these data items be useful to add to the G.h schema to help describe transmission?
Detailed contact data is useful and has been available previously. The existing contact_with_case variable can be expanded to make household contacts, contacts from parties/mass gatherings etc. separate i.e. more than one can be collected. An example layout of questions and response options will be added for review.
Example of Exposure_contacts data items: Exposure_contact example.xlsx
This was raised as a priority by Christoph Fraser today - so I agree should be included. I don't have any opinions/experience on the format/responses.
Further to ensure contact_setting is application for different routes of infection (droplet, aerosol, sex). Contact with traditional healer appears in ebola/marburg and influenza WHO toolkits, should this be separated from the HEALTH setting category? Attendance at a funeral also appears for ebola/marburg. Should the HEALTH category be split into inpatient and outpatient.
The WHO generic respiratory CRF defines type of contact as;
@aimeehan1 @JacqSauer @kelseytoups @julianasopko
*Minimum EpiCore variable = Direct contact with symptomatic people
The T0 toolkit collects data in the variable expo_contact and requests information on name, relationship and places where interaction has occurred. The place of interaction is collected in Contact_setting in the day0 schema, should an attribute be added to the day0 schema for relationship? Is this often available from G.h sources?
