Unable to read Maybe text on grey background with Newspaper Theme

See screenshot.
Maybe text is readable on white background, but there is not enough contrast on 
a grey background e.g. buttons, selected cell. Text becomes almost impossible 
to read on small device screens.

Carved and Dark themes do not have this problem with contrast.

If colors are still not good, please suggest other colors. See r251 for which 
lines to change.

Tested Revision 251: I'm happy with those colours! A good compromise between 
not too bright, but readable on white/grey backgrounds.
