If MTRI sets these up as mapserver services, the legend that they specify in mapserver can be used directly in the portal.

We have two MTRI remote sensing data layers ready to integrate into the GLOS Data Portal - Our "KD490" and "Photic Zone Depth" data layers.
The main description for both of them is: "The KD490 and Photic Zone Depth data layers are extensions of the remote sensing derived products derived using the Color Producing Agent Algorithm (CPA-A) described in Shuchman et al. 2013 and Shuchman et al. 2006. They incorporate the chlorophyll, suspended minerals, and CDOM retrievals from the CPA-A along with the solar zenith angle of the satellite image to provide estimates of water clarity. These layers are processed for Lakes Huron, Ontario, Michigan, and Superior approximately once a week during the relatively 'cloud free' Great Lakes season (approximately mid-April to mid-October each year) and shared via ftp and WMS with the GLOS DMAC team and GLOS community."
I asked Mike Billmire what information is needed to get them displaying within the GLOS Data Portal, and he replied:
"I believe the only information they would need is the layer codes for the new products which are:
Using those in place of e.g. chl, cdom, doc, etc. in their WMS calls should do the trick."
Please tell us if other information is needed. We're working on getting our HABs product ready to share as well.
So these will be 2 more layers in the MTRI satellite layers for each Lake. THe current abstracts look like this:

I have @ColinNBrooks verifying before pushing to production since we will want to be sure the legends are to his satisfaction, etc.
The Kd490 legend looks great. The PZD legend looks like its supposed to as well. The issue with PZD data is that we currently use a default value of 1.0 for background values (rather than a no data value), so that legitimate 1.0 values look the same as background values, which makes the raster look like a rather odd blue rectangle. We need to change that at MTRI. But in the meantime, the data are being displayed correctly and the legends are correct, so I think we can move ahead with this.
Done so I'm closing. (BTW @ColinNBrooks we see more of Lake Michigan but still not the entire lake - I'm assuming this is still something on MTRI's end of things)
