IOOS Survey

@kknee - I like Devra's suggested text, with a link to come from @kkoch. Let's proceed once we get approval from Kristin and Becky ---

Tentative spec:

1. The splash screen will have the title "Help improve GLOS Products!"

2. The splash screen will have the text (note this is revised from previous text) > "Will you take a brief survey to help us better serve your needs?"

3. The splash screen will have four controls:

   • Close window (X at upper right)
   • Button "Yes, I'm ready!" - close window, bring up survey, store choice
   • Button "Yes, but later." close window
   • Button "No, thanks." close window, store choice

4. If the window is closed with the Close button ("X") or "later", do nothing.

5. If the window is closed with "take the survey" or "don't want survey", store flag/cookie

6. If flag/cookie is present, do not show the survey

7. Need separate surveys for each product - Data Portal, Boaters' View, and GLB

Amendment to #7 above - survey includes all three products so while we may not be able to track (via cookies or otherwise) users who've already answered the survey on one product, we shouldn't need separate surveys although @gcutrell will need to set up something separate for GLBuoys. RPS to handle Portal and Boaters'.

Survey has been created on new SurveyMonkey account for GLOS.

Where are we on putting the survey up? We should have it up today if at all possible.

I just placed it up on GLBuoys. Visitors will see it when visiting a buoy page and the splash screen will reappear every hour if the click close or choose the later option.

Awesome @gcutrell I just went to station page on GLBuoys and the window to take the survey popped up. When do should we expect it going up on portal.glos.us?

survey has been up on boaters tool since yesterday too (loads after you pick a lake). @kkoch I think we can close this one?

@kknee Would you have one of your crew disable the IOOS survey from the Portal (and Boaters if it is still there)? I just happened to stumble on it still being there when I cleared my browser cache and I have confirmed with Becky that they don't need to collect the data anymore. Tx!
