Architecture Diagrams #168

I am interested in contributing to this project. Towards that, I would like to get an understanding of the architecture. Are there any class, sequence diagrams etc detailing this ?

Where would be a good place to store these diagrams? A documentation sub-project?

I could start drawing the basic project structure, using PlantUML markdown or C4. What would you prefer? I would start with the projects general structure and then work towards the project internals.

My preference would be to create a docs directory in the project itself.
