Dear XXX,

I am reaching out to in my capacity as a representative of the Glycoinformatics Consortium (GLIC). GLIC represents the global glycoinformatics community and is intended as a hub for discussions, collaborations, and community initiatives in the field. We recently had a discussion in our steering committee with the conclusion that we want to broaden the inclusion of the glycoinformatics field in GLIC. To that effect, our goal is to create an interest / discussion group that could represent the field. Specific goals of that group would include (i) discussing emerging challenges / important issues in the field and presenting those as a review/editorial to the broader community, (ii) setting standards (e.g., data formats, method reporting, etc.), and (iii) spearheading specific initiatives, such as seminar series etc.

Based on your important research in this area, we would like to extend an invitation to you, to join this discussion group. Would you be interested in participating? Let me know and I can provide you with further information.
