When using Discourse as a comment section, there is an embedding option but to use this for each glycan structure might be too much, as the embedded script is needed to put in each structure. And after embedding in each structure, there will be billions of topics created for each structure in which it might be too much in Discourse.
Another option is looking into having just a link on a glycan structure page where users would be able to click on to make a new topic in glycan structure category with the accession number as title and so forth. Users won't have to take the time in filling out everything.
Found that this could be used:
http://discourse.example.com/new-topic?title=topic%20title&body=topic%20body&category=category/subcategory&tags=email,planned
Just need to modify the params and it opens a composer window pre-filled with topic title, body, category and tags. This will be nice to have users make the topic when they have a comment or question.
I tested the above link out on this test dummy page The link is:
The link will automatically take the user to a pre-filled new topic in the glycan structure category. Because there is an option to change the title we will need to change each title in the link to the corresponding page with "Accession Number G-----" or we could just have "G-----" in the link.
One thing I noticed is that when users click on the same link and try to make a new topic with the same title, pop up window will show that it is used. Users will then need to search on discourse for the G------ number to find the topic. This might be a hassle but I think it would keep discourse site clean.
Another Options is to have all the Accession Number pages with the same link without changing the title to the Accession Number and have users type them in. (would be easier for developer)
This of course, might have users make mistakes in the title (incorrect number) so I'm not sure about this.
Looking into: Having a link where users can reply to if there is a title of the same topic.
