Updater never updates #23

I got an update there's a new version today, to 0.9.400. I told gmaster to restart and update and got a dialog saying gmaster is still running. Task manager only shows gmaster-updater.exe running, no gmaster.exe instances. After confirming i want to close all processes and continue with the update, nothing happens. Loading gmaster again shows its still at the older version.

Windows 10 Pro x64 CU, gmaster 0.9.399

Hi, I've just upgraded and I didn't face any issue :$ Could you reach us at support@codicesoftware.com attaching the "gmaster.log.txt" file? We will evaluate the problem and we can even arrange a gotomeeting session with you if the issue persists.

ransagy commented 6 years ago

Attached a sanitized log from a fresh run after i deleted the gmasterupgrade folder, just in case. The only excerpt i found that seemed relevant (rest are mostly GitApi operations):

2017-09-27 19:19:49,153 INFO [21172] Upgrade - Successfully downloaded, uncompressed, and checked checksums for release 'C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Temp\gmasterupgrade\GMaster-0.9.400.zip'.

which seems true enough; that folder now has the new zipped release, an unzipped binaries folder, checksums.txt and the upgrader exe.

Is there a log for the upgrader? Running it again from the folder does nothing either.

gmaster.txt

Just an update; after manually updating to 400 by running the installer, this happens again with 407.

ransagy commented 6 years ago

Checking in again; Still happens in all of the last few versions that happened. Is there anything else i can provide here? Right now i just re-download the installer every time i see the upgrade popup in gmaster.

Any chance someone could look at this? It's getting a bit annoying manually downloading the installer again and again just to update.

Hi, Sorry for this. I'm afraid is working well in almost all cases, so something weird must be going on. We are going to add more log to try to find out what is wrong in your case. We'll keep you posted.

All i could ask for :) Willing to test if needed, as well.

@psantosl @calbzam Today i got another prompt to update, but this time i got a different dialog:

---------------------------
gmaster install
---------------------------
The installation process cannot access to the gmaster installation directory 'C:\Users\XXXX'. The upgrade process cannot continue.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

... where 'XXXX' is the first part of my username, that contains a space in it. This could probably explain why it didn't work just for me so far.

ransagy commented 6 years ago

If this still matters to anyone at all, I can say that my new install with a username that doesn't have space worked as expected.
