New Feature - Recursive Directory Search #250

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What is the expected output?
When using the Auto folder search option...
Settings->"Auto" (under the "Hide Edit Box" option
I would expect that when I am searching for a file by name, the search
functionality would search the current folder as well, as all sub-folders in
the directory tree, for any matches to the text entered into the filter textbox.

What do you see instead?
The default filter only searches the current directory. Also, there is no way
that I have been able to find how to clear the filter. Once I delete all of the
text in the filter textbox, none of the files that are there show up again. I
entered *.* thinking that would return all folders/files in the current
directory, however this did not happen.

What version of the product are you using?
1.8.6.1062

On what operating system?
Windows 7 x64

Please provide any additional information below.
Albeit I can use the other search tools available - grepWin, PowerShell, etc. -
I would prefer not to open another application simply to do a recursive search
on all files and sub-folders in the current directory.

However, if there is a feature integrated into the application, or if there is
a parameter that can be applied to the search string, to traverse the entire
directory tree, please let me know as I can't find any supporting documentation
to identify those features.

Otherwise, this is a FANTASTIC addition to Windows Explorer.

Thanks Guys!

Cory
