I keep getting the invalidoperationexception error no matter the command I have tried. I notice in your code, it keeps looking for c:\users\gmeno... of which there isn't any such user on my system. could this be the issue? how to fix? Thanks for your work and for taking the time to answer my question. Levi

Hi Levi, Ignore the "C:\Users\gmeno..." output. That's related to the machine on which kw1281test was built, not the machine that it's being run on.

I can think of a few reasons you might be getting this error:

Greg, Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! Here is what I can provide at the moment (I'll have to wait until later this evening before I can get back to the car to test). I apologize for not including this information earlier (noob here).

  1. Brand new Chinese knock-off cable that I received Friday.
  2. Went into my device manager and ensured it had updated drivers and which COM port was being used. Plus I have tested it out using vcds lite free and it works there. (Incidentally I verified which port in there too).
  3. 2004 VW Jetta TDI MK4 (problem with immobilizer)
  4. Running Win 10. Good luck getting caught down to less than 10%. Will check on that and see what else is running.
  5. I will check this out this evening, which wire is that (colorwise)? And will change the baud rate. Vcds didn't give me that info...lol. I did try several different commands and another channel mentioned beside 17 (if memory serves me) with same result.

Anyhow, thanks again! I'll get back to you later with the results. Levi

here is the latest attempt. As you can see (kinda) vcds is able to use the cable to get info from controller yet when I try through kw1281test, I am still getting the wakeup error. I still think I am doing something wrong, but not sure what... any suggestions? thank you, Levi

Can you post a link to the cable you're using?

That looks like one of the same cables that I have. I added some additional logging code to the next release. Can you give it a try and attach kw1281test.log if it doesn't work? https://github.com/gmenounos/kw1281test/releases/tag/v0.74-beta

Is there a way to debug a similar issue I am getting Caught: System.UnauthorizedAccessException Access to the path 'com3' is denied KW1281Test.log .
