Main Research Question?

The authors want to understand how SARS-CoV-2 antibodies evolve throughout time after COVID-19 infection.

Methods & Data

I consider the methods used to be appropriate for evaluating the questions the authors wanted to address. I believe the data support the authors' conclusions regarding the evolution of antibodies after SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Authors' interpretation

The authors conclude that even six months after infection, antibodies may remain in the body and continue to evolve in a manner that can further contribute to overcoming reinfection. Based on the data presented, I agree with the interpretation of the authors.

Enhancement or next experiment?

Evaluate antibody evolution in individuals who are diagnosed with COVID-19 after having received the vaccination.

confusion? Terms you don't understand?

I do not understand the reasoning behind using an HIV-virus-based assay for measuring plasma neutralizing activity and RBD binding alterations.

  • This rarely happens lol. But yes, a good suggestion!

  • Please see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_kTScaVT6c. Around 10:30. The author claims that this is a better assay than just checking reactivity via ELISA to detect how antibody's ability to neutralize certain antigens.
