Google Meet integration? #77

Hi, are there any plans to integrate with Google Meet? I tried this out with a Jabra Link 260, but doesn't work. But then, is this something the Meet team would have to integrate? My employer is migrating from WebEx to Meet, and the integration is great in WebEx.

Hi, Google is a key partner of ours, and we are indeed discussing this topic with them as something we both want to achieve. However, we do not have any timeline for integration with Google Meet at this point.

Seconding this - I know Chromebox for Meetings works with Jabra speaker/microphones, so I'm not sure why I can't do the same using a Jabra 410 and Google Meet on a Chromebook normally. (So ideally, for my use case, this would be resolved along with #41 together.)

Hello, please note that as per the readme, tech support for integration components is available through https://developer.jabra.com . This forum is only infrequently monitored.

Also, it is up to the vendor of the UC Client ("softphone" in old terms) to integrate call control when it comes to browser applications. All end-user support would therefore also be provided by google - I suggest you post a question to them.

That being said, it is unlikely that Google will use this browser extension, as they have been driving the WebHID implementation in Chrome/Chromium. Furthermore, the browser extension cannot run on ChromeBooks due to the closed nature of the environment (cannot install the device connector called "Chromehost").

We therefore expect Google meet to use WebHID to implement call control (it may already do so - I have not checked lately). This will enable the buttons on your device for answer/hang-up etc, both on PCs and ChromeBooks.

But do note that there are currently several limitation of the standard HID protocol (as used over WebHID:

1) There is no access to Jabra-specific functions like settings management, telemetry data, programmable buttons etc. For this you need this browser extension/library. 2) There is not clash-controlling mechanism (aka "call-control lock") - if you are using multiple UC Clients they may interfere with each other.

I just published a Chrome extension to add the busy light support and mute/unmute for Jabra devices in Google Meet. I only tested it using the Jabra Link dongle though.
