Proposal for Participation in the Student Contributors Program

Team Introduction

Hello Gno.land team,

We are a group of four final-year students and recent graduates from the School of Computing, Union University in Belgrade, Serbia, and we are eager to participate in the Student Contributors Program to contribute to and learn from the Gno.land community.

Team Members:

  1. Stefan Nikolić

  2. Jovan Jovanović

  3. Matija Marjanović

  4. Ivan Ursulović

Highlighted Projects

We would like to showcase a few of our projects that we are particularly proud of:

Why We Are Interested

Our team is excited about the potential of decentralized technologies and the unique possibilities that Gno.land offers. With a shared enthusiasm for innovation, we are eager to dive into the Gno.land ecosystem and explore the full potential of this platform. Together, we bring a strong foundation in software development and system design, and three of us have practical experience working with blockchain technologies. The SCP provides the ideal environment for us to push boundaries, experiment with new ideas, and build meaningful solutions on Gno.land.

How We Plan to Contribute

For a start, we could build simple dApps like games or other straightforward applications to get familiar with Gno.land. As we become more comfortable with the platform, we’d love to experiment with basic DeFi protocols, such as staking or lending systems, and potentially building an oracle and a stablecoin.

We’re also open to porting our own projects or translating applications from other chains to Gno.land, further expanding the ecosystem. Lastly, with guidance from more experienced contributors, we’d be keen to explore and discuss improvements in governance models, tokenomics, and DAO structures.

We’re flexible and ready to focus our attention on whichever area the Gno.land community needs most.

Additional Contribution

We believe we can further contribute to the Gno.land ecosystem beyond the SC program by offering to host panels and workshops at our university after we have finished the program:

  1. Panel: We would be happy to organize an event at Union University where we can share our experiences with Gno.land and introduce other students to the community, sparking interest in decentralized technologies.
  2. Student Training Sessions: After we have completed the SCP, we could also organize workshops or short courses to teach other students how to write smart contracts in Gno, helping to grow the Gno.land community.

Next Steps

We are excited about the potential to contribute and learn through this program. We would appreciate knowing what the next steps in the process are and how we can move forward. You can review our CVs and GitHub profiles to better understand our background. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need additional information. We look forward to the opportunity to participate and help grow the Gno.land community.

Thank you for your consideration!

Thank you for your proposal and interest in Student Contributors Program. We are looking into your submission.

In the meantime, can you clarify few points please:

  • As you are studying, what are the timelines you are able to commit to the program?
  • How many hours a week are you planning to allocate to SCP, alongside your studies?
  • Is there any time in between that you are unable to allocate time due to studies, if so can you specify please?
  • How soon can the group start?

We would appreciate if everyone in the group could respond to above questions, in case there are individual circumstances we need to consider. Many thanks

Hello Valeh,

Thank you for your quick response. I’m happy to provide clarification on the points you mentioned:

  1. I am flexible with my schedule as lecture attendance at our university is not mandatory, and all lectures are recorded, allowing me to manage my time effectively.

  2. Depending on my academic responsibilities for a specific week, I can allocate 25-30 hours per week to the Student Contributors Program.

  3. There are a few periods where my availability might be limited:

    • Exam weeks: 18-24 November and 11-19 January.
    • Our whole team will be attending the Devcon conference and participating in the ETHGlobal Hackathon in Bangkok from 10-17 November.

Apart from these specific times, I will be able to adjust my workload as needed.

  4. I can start as early as next week or at any other time in the near future that works best for you.

Thank you for your consideration, let me know if any further details are required.

Hello,

Firstly, I want to thank you for your interest in our submission and for reaching out with your questions.

To clarify:

Timelines: Since our courses are being recorded, I have the flexibility to work as needed and watch the recordings later, ensuring that I can manage my time effectively as long as I have enough advance notice.

Hours per week: After giving it some thought, I am confident that I can commit to 30 hours per week for the program, irrespective of the time of day.

Unavailable periods: There is one week in November, specifically from November 10th to November 17th, when I will be attending DevCon and Hackathon in Bangkok. This is the only period I know of where I will be unavailable. Additionally, I have exam weeks in periods: 18-24 November and 11-19 January.

Start date: I am ready to start as soon as next week.

I hope this clarifies everything! Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.

I have recently completed my studies, so I am now able to fully commit my time and focus to this program.

I can dedicate between 25 and 30 hours per week, depending on any other responsibilities that may come up.

I’ll also be at DevCon and participating in the ETHGlobal Hackathon, like others. Outside of these events, I’m available to adjust my workload as necessary.

Please feel free to let me know if you need any further details. I’m excited to get started and can begin as early as next week!

Best regards,

Hello again. Since we have been waiting on response I have decided to start building on gno chain so I started my own "jorney" as have other builders. Although it's not much I think it's a good start. Here is the link to the journey: https://github.com/gnolang/hackerspace/issues/95

My home realm

Hello again!

Like Matija, I decided not to sit idly by while waiting for your response, so I’ve started my own builder's journey 🌄. I got into the basics of the Gno environment and built my first realm — an interactive traveling home realm 👀. You can check it out here 🏡

Feel free to explore my builder's journey to share your feedback and get insight into my future plans!
