Re-theme common extension icons #69

Open garrett opened 11 years ago

garrett commented 11 years ago

If people are using common extensions for Firefox, we should consider looking into retheming the icons with a GNOME symbolic style, if possible.

garrett commented 11 years ago

Everyone, please start by listing the extensions you use that place icons in your toolbar... (:

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

TO DO / DONE

NEED STYLESHEETS

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

And Redirect Remover.

garrett commented 11 years ago

The timeframe for this is probably post-15. We can target somewhere between 15.2 (that is, after the 15.1 release, which is in this week) to 16 for landing a bunch of these.

seleznev commented 11 years ago

I think, Movable Firefox Button and FxButton must have gear icon on nav-bar.

garrett commented 11 years ago

There are a bunch of great suggestions here so far! (:

piotrdrag commented 11 years ago

Besides the already mentioned, I use Flashblock which puts a colorful icon in the toolbar.

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

I started making the icons, not sure when or if I'm going to finish all of them but I'll try. Here's the work so far(just in case someone is working on them too) > https://www.dropbox.com/s/fbhjfg3aaglz0z3/DeepinScreenshot-011.png

seleznev commented 11 years ago

It's a very beautiful!

garrett commented 11 years ago

This is looking great so far!

Also, BTW: icons for the extensions I use:

Update: I forgot that Pocket had a toolbar icons too, for viewing articles. Whoops.

seleznev commented 11 years ago

Just replace a icons in branches and merge it to master. I think it is good plan. <_<

I failed with the previous commits. Excuse me. :(

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

Yes, I'll try completing a bunch of them and send you the svg to commit.

garrett commented 11 years ago

@0rAX0: Your comment made me check to see if you were on the team for full r/w access. It appears you weren't. Oops! Oversight resolved. You're officially on the team now. (:

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

Thanks! Feels better. :P

seleznev commented 11 years ago

@0rAX0, for Xmarks Sync needed more icons. For "dirty" and "error" we can used icon with exclamation markwith (just recolor to yellow/red), for "my" - default image, for "sync" - colored icon. What you think about it? But icons for settings and similarsites we don't have. :( You can do it?)

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

@seleznev The only needed icon is dirty.png, the rest is just bloat, you can access all that by right-clicking on the icon. So, I prefer adding more extensions instead. :) BTW, you have the wrong icon for plugins.svg, that's Lastpass not plugins. :D

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

@garrett Can I modify your report to list the remaining extensions?

seleznev commented 11 years ago

0rAX0,

only needed icon is dirty.png

Okay... <_<

icon for plugins

Ohhhh... I fixed it now, thanks. =)

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

@seleznev I can draw them for you if you happen to use them. :P

garrett commented 11 years ago

Feel free to modify my report. Yes.

I'm working on Firebug at the moment. I have a symbolic icon that works, but am converting it to be smaller. (I designed it larger. Usually, I do icons at 1:1, but this was a special case...)

seleznev commented 11 years ago

@0rAX0, I added style for Xmark Sync but I don't test it. %) You use Xmark? I don't want to register/setting it. =(

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

I'll test and fix if needed. Thank you. :)

seleznev commented 11 years ago

@garrett, please test it. And maybe colored icon for active state will be better?

seleznev commented 11 years ago

LastPass

This extension can change icon (in settings). What we does with this feature (now it just not work). %)

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

That feature is used to integrate Laspass with the used theme, since we provide that, I'm not sure if we need it anyway. :/ I wouldn't worry about that.

garrett commented 11 years ago

I was using icon #2 for lastpass, to make it fit in. Also, in parallel, I made a lastpass icon and then did a git pull and discovered that you did one as well. Oops. They look pretty similar, but mine was a little smaller. (One difference is that I used a 2px box and rotated it to the angles manually instead of using a rotated asterisk.)

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

@garrett I made that two days ago /me thinks(using the same method btw :P). I updated mine to look like the default one > https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8078483/DeepinScreenshot-4043.png Should we stick with this instead?

garrett commented 11 years ago

I guess your alternate LastPass icon looks more like the default icon, which is probably more correct. If it eventually goes into a button, then it might look odd, but that's only if we have buttons on the toolbar. We can change it then, if so.

seleznev commented 11 years ago

@0rAX0, @garrett So, I don't have icons now and I go to sleep. =)

garrett commented 11 years ago

Thanks for all your hard work! The theme is really looking awesome!

0rAX0 commented 11 years ago

@garrett I'll update then while keeping the old one as an _alt version. Just in case.

@seleznev Thank you!

moimael commented 11 years ago

Facebook disconnect and google disconnect symbolic icons would be great ;)

ienzam commented 10 years ago

DownThemAll Manager icon is not visible, it shows an empty space (clickable but no icon) selection_011 selection_012

seleznev commented 10 years ago

@ienzam, it has been fixed in f22162d. Thank you for your report. :)

0rAX0 commented 10 years ago

Sorry, I had a local fix but it was messy. Thanks @seleznev !

Has anyone been working on a GNOMEified NoScript icon?

kidwm commented 9 years ago

How about Evernote Web Clipper?

ba3r commented 9 years ago

Has anyone been working on a GNOMEified NoScript icon?

@plsng I'm on it.

ghost commented 9 years ago

Thanks!

gregorydk commented 9 years ago

A Web Developer icon would be a nice addition. The icon is a cog. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/web-developer/

0rAX0 commented 9 years ago

@kidwm @gregorydk On them.

kidwm commented 9 years ago

@0rAX0 Awesome!

jurf commented 9 years ago

Privacy Badger & uBlock? These are my must-haves, along with HTTPS Everywhere.

0rAX0 commented 9 years ago

Also, we have icons for Evernote and uBlock but we don't have corresponding stylesheets for them.

McSinyx commented 8 years ago

GreenLunar commented 8 years ago

I would like to ask an icon for Bookie extension.

Bookie is a free python-based bookmarks manager that has the ability to import bookmarks from Mozilla.

Bookie is an essential gate for Linux users to not being dependent on Mozilla and start using Midori, QupZilla, Web etc.

0rAX0 commented 8 years ago

This ticket is wrong Re-theme common extension icons >> Port common extensions to Midori and Web.

Dear @GreenLunar , this is a repo for a Firefox theme, please stop mentioning Midori and other browsers on every comment, it's getting very boring.

GreenLunar commented 8 years ago

I will stop.

ghost commented 8 years ago

@synapsos Are you still working on icons for NoScript?
