I'd like to be able to adjust the transparency of the background image such that whatever is behind Tilix can be seen. Currently this is only possible if the background is of a single color. A blur effect (in front of the background for legibility or behind the background when it's transparent) could also be helpful.
Competing terminal emulators offer Animated Backgrounds, which I adore. Being able to use GIFs or video files as backgrounds would do wonders for the look and feel of Tilix. Currently this is one of the few nitpicks which are preventing me from completely migrating to Tilix and never looking back.
