Clean up code

The code has been through many iterations and there is some cruft left around.

We should do the following:

• [ ] move non template code into the library functions
• [ ] move long functions outside of class definitions
• [ ] Rename wrap to something more descriptive
• [ ] Create a wrapper header that includes all of the other files.
