It is a straightforward/non-draconian and easy to sign online, but of course please make sure you're happy with the terms.
I signed it, but please consider removing this requirement since it might hinder some contributors from participating.

This is a company policy, and hard to lift given the legal constraints in many countries. It's also not exclusive to Canonical, FWIW. If you try to contribute to the Go compiler suite, for example, you'll be asked to sign an analogous agreement.
I think it would be useful to have these examples, in order to show how easy it is to create desktop programs with go and QML.
I was a bit lazy, so I only ported those that had no native code components.
