Intended to be the Combat version of SimpleTweak's "SyncCrafterBars" to sync identical skills between jobs of the same role. It's practically the same thing if you ignore the fact it is x1000 times more complicated and has grey areas that don't exist for Crafters. :^)
More info
I think this is best explained by giving examples.
Now Vengeance is technically not a 1:1 with the others due to the additional 55 potency counterattack built into it but it is the functionally equivalent 30% cut. Not all abilities have a functional equivalent but many do. For simplicities sake 1-2, 1-2-3, or 1-2-3a/3b combos could be considered unique and excluded even though PLD's Fast blade is for all intents and purposes equivalent to WAR's Heavy Swing.
Some community discussion may be required about what skills are considered "functionally equivalent" for ones that clearly aren't either 1:1 or 1:1 with only minor/class-flavor differences. For example is PLD's Intervention functionally equivalent to DRK's Oblation? What about with GNB's Heart of Stone or War's Nascent Flash? They're all quite unique but with the shared functionality of "damage reduction for target party member or self" (with PLD not able to target self and WAR needing to use Bloodwhetting instead of Nascent Flash to self-target) I personally treat these as the same for my hotbars but would argue they aren't the same at all for the intended purpose of this plugin.
Special multi-role considerations:
Arm's Length & Low Blow/Leg Sweep for Melee+Tanks
Head Graze & Interject for Ranged+Tanks
Swiftcast, Surecast, & Lucid Dreaming for Casters+Healers
Special multi-class considerations:
120s cooldown raidwide buffs (eg. is MNK's Brotherhood equivalent to DRG's Battle Litany? What about SCH's Chain Stratagem?)
60s cooldown personal buffs (eg. is MNK's Riddle of Fire equivalent to DRG's Lance Charge?)
Signed,
Someone who spent far too long organizing their hotbars between classes to ensure functionally equivalent buttons are all on the same keybinds.
[x] I checked if this request wasn't already proposed
Searched for "sync", "hotbar, "hotbars" and "role" and found nothing similar. Surprisingly.
I don't see how this would be outside of plugin guidelines if CrafterAbilitiesSync is an OK thing to do.
