For Xbox Game Pass version, the saves are in AppData\Local\Packages\HelloGames.NoMansSky_[random string]\SystemAppData\wgs[another random string]
Please check other issues (ex. #601) first before making a duplicate one.
https://github.com/goatfungus/NMSSaveEditor/issues/419 Was gonna say or look at this but this is either wrong or no longer works at least for me

Wait really? It worked out of the box for me tho. Try other editors (ex. NomNom) to see if you can edit them at all.

Yeah, I know.
Also, just spent a while redownloading the Game Pass version (I usually just play on Steam cuz I got it there) and yep, totally works right out of the gate. And there is the save file
there is no packages
there is no packages
Try running the game, enter the ship to force save and look again? Most posts I've seen from Google search results says it's there. Even I got the a xbox save up and running in like 30 mins (buyinng game pass, download the game, create a new save & play until I got the ship fixed)
"Packages" folder should be in %LocalAppData%\Packages\
@Cartervr1463 First of all, make sure your save files are synced with the MS Cloud, and downloaded to PC for your GamePass version for that same account. The the full path to it would be as follows:
%LocalAppData%\Packages\HelloGames.NoMansSky_bs190hzg1sesy\SystemAppData\wgs\<largestringfoldername>\...
%LocalAppData%
is a path variable which is usually referencing C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\
For some reason NMSSE is not always finding the correct path by itself because it appears to direct to the wgs
folder itself, where it actually needs to go one more folder in, the one that has the containers.index
file. So browse there and then click the 'Open` button. You can tell NMSSE has found it when your saves appear in the Game Slot dropdown, with the path shown above.
When I try finding my saves it doesn't show my files
