option windows duplicate and overwrite on the exosuit window #952

Im having an issue using the editor screens which have the tiled item layout.

running: windows 11, i9, 32g ram NMSSaveEditor.log

java 8

problem: right click option box glitches and overwrites itself making it impossible to see the form. image image

steps to reproduce:

after right clicking and moving the mouse around, various parts of the UI are seemingly overwritten with blank white areas, or it duplicates the form as in the screenshot. After that, any mouse over increases the issue.

I have the same problem, it started when I changed to Windows 11, an earlier commenter posted a script to start the editor as administrator, but that didn't hav any effect.

I'm also seeing the same issue. JRE 8Win11 23H2, 7900X3D, RTX4900, all latest drivers etc.

Doesn't matter whether I use either batch file, the .jar or launch from admin console. Console doesn't show any errors before or after the bug starts. Tried Java 8 64 and 32 bit as well as JDK 21.

The below behavior is for a fresh install of JRE 8 1.8.0_401 64 bit running from the 4G.bat. Spot checking the other launch options gave identical results.

I was going to start digging deeper, but you only provide the binaries and I'm not experienced with Java anyway. Let me know how I can get you verbose logs and I'll run through the below again. Maybe that'll show something particular to the people having this issue.

No issues:

Causes bug:

Bug Behavior: Once the bug begins, whichever GUI view was the last focused is redrawn, aligning the top left corner with the bottom left corner of whatever element was last entered. In the case drop down menus the redraw aligns to the drop down arrow, not the text box.

This happens most frequently on GUI elements which have an "On Hover" effect (Menus, buttons, Help minimize maximize and close buttons) as well as when the mouse enters a drop down element. It does not occur when hovering over or when clicking in stats boxes, but will occur if you highlight the text in the stats box.

Clicking an item which causes a redraw (such as one the Main, Exosuit, etc menu tabs) clears the artifacts temporarily, but they return per the above.

I've found no way to stop the bug once it starts, only close and reopen.

Edit: Grammar

I'm still having this same issue also. Been going on for a long time. I added the .bat file someone posted a while back. Never helped my issue at all. The editor worked fine on my Windows 11 computer through version 1.13.8 The update after that was when this overlapping window issue started (for me). So after trying suggested fixes and seeking information elsewhere with no luck, I just kept using the old version 1.13.8 I was getting by with that arrangement as my Save Edit needs are simple. But from what I've read and experienced, the Omega update changed the path to json files so older Save Editor versions can no longer find the required data. Gives you the "corrupted file" message. So I can't use my old trusty version anymore and the new version(s) gives me overlapping UI windows to the point where it is not usable. I really hope someone can help with a fix. I love this Editor but it's dead for me right now. I would gladly pay for a reworked version that addresses the overlapping screen problem.

@shagnasty245 @curlymoe @matthbull

This issue is now resolved for me. Might be due to java update on 3/13 or Win11 update 3/15.

Now on JRE 8 401 build 1.8.0_401-b10. Win 11 Pro 23H2 build 22631.3296

Give it a shot.

Just tried it. Java is current. Still have the exact same issue. My JRE and WIN builds are exactly the same as yours.

I don't know English well, so I use google translator. I also have duplicated windows, but if I remove AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, everything works fine. Unfortunately, this is not a solution to the problem. Core i5-9400F, 16 Gb RAM, video card RX 6800, Windows 11 Pro 23H2 ‎06.‎04.‎2024 22631.3447 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22688.1000.0
