fan not working #3

Hello,

my odrorid (u3) crashes every 2 to 3 days (most likely) due to high temperature. By crashing I mean it stops responding to anything except pings. Since is core is hot (68°C which is very hot according to this source) after reboot I assume the issue is there. I found out that the fan does not spin at all.

I tried to check the fan but I was not able to find out what to look for. Most sources I found where referencing a module named odroid-fan or odroidu2-fan. Something like that's does not exist on the image. I was able to find a module called pwm-fan but I couldn't find out how to use it.

The value for /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/trip_point_0_temp seems to be a bit high (70000) but i was not able to change it - Permission denied.

Also I tried to install fancontrol but it does not work since lm-sensors doesn't find any supported sensors.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks for the info. Will have a look at the fan-related modules. In the mean time see if changing settings, like disabling overclocking (if any) and throttling CPU to reduce overloading, helps? Does the fan spin momentarily at boot and then stops?
