Godot 4.0-dev-master crashing (Manjaro, NVIDIA 470.62.02 Vulkan driver, RTX2060M) #52726

Issue description

I am trying to build and run Godot 4.0-dev (master git).

I ran from terminal and, as soon as I get the initial screen, I ran into several issues to create a new project.

1) I needed to resize every window all the time to force a redraw, so I could see what I wrote on project name and path.

2) After creating a new project, I got multiple output errors

ERROR: Condition "!importer.is_valid()" is true. Continuing.

Steps to reproduce

From an Arch based distro, use the PKGBUILD from AUR as a starting point, change line 14 to

depends=('glu' 'libxi' 'libxrandr' 'libxcursor' 'libxinerama' 'alsa-lib' 'freetype2' 'mesa' 'yasm' 'libglvnd')

line 49, to

scons platform=linuxbsd use_llvm=no use_lto=yes yasm=yes pulseaudio=no target=release_debug -j$(nproc)

and line 61 to

 install -D -m755 bin/godot.linuxbsd.opt.tools.${_arch} "${pkgdir}"/usr/bin/godot

So, it should build and install with makepkg -si

Minimal reproduction project

Any new project.

Can you reproduce this if you build Godot from source without going through the AUR/makepkg process?

I've followed the instructions and built with

scons -j$(nproc) platform=linuxbsd target=release_debug bits=64

Now, It doesn't crash immeadiatly, but I still need to resize the window all the time to force a redraw. And I see different errors (some repeat with different IDs):

I've never heard of that issue on Linux before. Does it go away if you start the editor with the --verbose command line argument? Alternatively, you can enable Update Continuously in the Editor Settings, but this will greatly increase CPU/GPU usage.

Can you successfully run Vulkan tools on your graphics card, such as vulkaninfo and vkcube (from vulkan-tools package)?

See if Godot launches successfully with your integrated graphics card. Have a look at the Verification and Selecting vulkan driver from the Vulkan wiki on how to do it. I believe it's something like this:

I don't know if DRI_PRIME works for Vulkan, but it's also worth a shot. Try with both DRI_PRIME=0 and DRI_PRIME=1 :

I got the same with integrated, but I've managed to solve it!

Actually, it was a compositor issue.

I use enlightenment as DE and compositor. It has a minimal memory/CPU/GPU footprint so I can save it for my work. It has its quirks, but it is the fastest. In the compositor rendering settinges, disabling 'textures from pixmap' solved the issue.
