I might add more commits as I go through the code. Let me know if I should split them in multiple PRs.

I don't have a mac but I have coworkers that can help me test stuff.

Thanks! OSX support is greatly appreciated as that's a platform I don't have access to.

Side note: I'm chipping away at clean and test providers today.
