archives.md #64

Should the archives.md page have a type of posts instead of section? This doesn’t seem to populate the page in theme tests, or am I doing something wrong? What is more, there’s no archives layout mentioned in the docs at all.

The hugoBasicExample provides the default content for theme demos hosted at www.themes.gohugo.io. We encountered a lot of themes that feature an archive, which isn't generated without archives.md. The layout for an archive if actually provided by the themes themselves.

Hi @digitalcraftsman, really appreciate this explanation. So technically the value of type is not to be treated literally, but is just used indicatively, if I got that right.

I am asking whether it would then be changed to type: posts to indicate a section used int he default content. Unless that also breaks themes for historic reasons...?
