List of sensors and boards Adrian and I have: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1trlmXzMLzL_iLvQ-bsrqUYC8K0sLrwIsUgQsCkSDo1o/edit?usp=sharing

I am also willing to contribute a dotstar and a Grove LCD Backlight driver. (Note: I cannot edit the spreadsheet.)

mattetti commented 8 years ago

@rakyll I added you to the doc. I have implemented most of the Grove LCD features for GoBot, sounds like something worth getting here too.

I'd like hop in with some moisture and whatever-I-can-get-my-hands-on sensors as part of my "distributed balcony growing helper sensors" project that I've never been able to continue with. Will see if they are(Grove) shipping to 3rd world countries..

mattetti commented 8 years ago

Hey @keremgocen that's awesome! Are you from Turkey? Seeestudio ships internationally from China, hopefully they ship to your place. Let us know if/when you get a device and we can coordinate the writing of the library.

rakyll commented 8 years ago

Alternatively, there are local distributors such as http://www.robotistan.com/.

keremgocen commented 8 years ago

They are (local shops) usually not cheap or out of stock when you want to buy cool stuff. Or they put a text "chinese" where otherwise you'd expect reference documentation or links.

What's your take on this? Are you using something similar or connecting manually? I thought it could be useful as they have a discount for magpi subscribers.

If you don't think it's worth getting, i might just order individual sensors and get away with some soldering.

rakyll commented 8 years ago

@keremgocen individual sensors with jumper cables work pretty well. The connector kit is great for beginners who don't have much context about what GPIO pins they need use.

keremgocen commented 8 years ago

I'll pass on it then. That was just my week spot for electronics starter kits with discounts talking -pulls out a dusty soldering iron-

mattetti commented 8 years ago

I use the grovepi+ because I have a bunch of seedstudio adapters. I'm planning on writing a lib for it, but it will take some time (it's an i2c interface that interfaces with the IOs from the board.

Just when i thought i was out, they pulled me back [in]https://twitter.com/kerem_gocen/status/758588318879801344).

I could not stop myself from getting the base shield, alcohol sensor and a led bar v2.0(wink wink). And the moisture sensors as promised. Hoping to get some free time next!
