Hey there. What's the status on this PR, it's 9 days til the event, and there isn't much time left to promote it.

Didn't find an issue to post this request - Would it be possible to provide a presentation covering the additions and changes in 1.9? There was an unofficial one, irrc it was by @davecheney, which we used it for a fun power point karaoke. People loved it and we'd love to do the same this time!

Hi, sorry for the absence but I was off without access to the internet (that's a feature, btw)

I'm going to merge this right now, and consequent parties (such as GoSF) will be added with other PRs
