Use GPRS option #365

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to Settings -> Call Options

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Option to enable voip calls over GPRS data network.
Instead: No such option.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.4 Beta, Android 2.1

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
Unrelated

Which type of network are you using?
GPRS

Please provide any additional information below.
Since some high-compression codecs are finally available, there should be
an option to enable voip calls over GPRS (there is an EGDE option, but in
my country it's either 3G/HSPDA or GPRS, no EDGE in between).
I know there might be delays and stuff, but why not have this option and
test?

I totally agree.
3G Connections drain battery so fast that it would be nice to have the ability
to use a 2G connection while in
stand by.... not to be forced to use 3G

I agree, please add this option. In some places, there's no 3G, HDSPA or EDGE
with
good quality... so GPRS would be great!

Thanks in advance.

Same here,I constantly drive between cleveland and detroit, and about half of
the drive is gprs only,I use sipdroid as my main way to recieve calls,my main
number can't even recieve calls,so I would really like to have calls working
for the whole trip.

My provider cuts my bandwith every month, after i exceeded 200mb. Then my phone
is still connected as as 3G or Edge or whatever, but the available bandwith is
gprs. Unfortunately the speex codec doesnt seem to fit in gprs. I can hear the
other person, be i sound terrible. And pbxes, which i use doesnt support the
silk codecs. Is there a way to enable other low bandwidth codecs, supported by
pbxes?
