Hi,

i love your work and i have seen that new Firefox is coming. I am currently trying Firefox developer edition, which is already running on latest Firefox beta channel and this awesome plugin is not working there. Can you look into it ?

Thank you very much.

This has already been mentioned in #149 and #168. Haven't found anything by @gomita on the issue though.

I loved firegestures from firt look! Will be work on 57?

kukjevov commented 6 years ago

As it was said on other issues, it looks like that it is not going to be migrated. And another big difference is if you migrate it, it will work only on web pages, not on plugins tab or similar like now. Because of this for windows i recommend StokesPlus, absolutely perfect :).

You can migrate to FoxyGestures https://github.com/marklieberman/foxygestures

It is a nice WebExtension and implements the functionality of FireGestures. Unfortunately, simply due to the limited functionality of WebExtensions in comparison to legacy addons, it does not work on pages such as about: or view-source:.

According to some pages, you can enable legacy addons in Firefox Nightly 57+, by setting extensions.legacy.enabled to true in about:config. Haven't tried that so far though. If it works I will use it to get FireGestures to work in Firefox 57+

Hi.

I tried FoxyGestures and it works nice, except limitations of WebExtensions and that was reason why i abandoned it. You cant make FireGestures work on Firefox 57 not even with enabled legacy addons. I tried it, it does not work.

va1entin commented 6 years ago

That is unfortunate. I guess I'll migrate to a Firefox fork then. The gestures are just to existential for my browsing workflow. "Waterfox" for example is very similar to Firefox, even uses the same versioning. It will keep support for legacy addons even above 57+ afaik

Also have used it for years... Gesturefy is another option for migration.

I'm very sorry, but I have no plan to port my all Firefox extensions into WebExtensions, since I'm just only a XUL developer.

wkoncki commented 6 years ago

@gomita There is no need to apologize for that. We fully understand the situation. Thank you so much for developing firegestures. It was my favorite extension. Shame there is no way to fully replicate its functionality under new system.
