I just experienced this same issue. AudioBookBinder 2.4, Ventura 13.0.1 (22A400). I tried converting a 20-hour audiobook to files with max volume length of 4 hrs. One 150 MB .m4b file had been created, and the error appeared before a second file appeared.
Was it update or new install? Try to change the destination folder in the app preferences to something else (e.g. Downloads) and then back to your normal folder.
In my case, the app updated automatically via the Mac App Store. Changing the destination folder worked. Converted files were created in the new location, and after switching back to the old folder the problem didn't reappear. Thanks for your response!
Edit: it seems like the issue shows up again when the app is quit and restarted, but the workaround can still be used.
In my case, it was also an update from the previous version.
I tried your suggestion of changing the destination folder. That worked for one book and then the issue returned. I removed the 2.4 version, put back 2.1 and the issue persisted.
Did a full uninstall, using AppCleaner, to get rid of: the files in /Library, ~/Library and /var/db. Then did a fresh install of 2.4 again. Same error as previously.
Removed all files again. Re-installed 2.0 (200), no issue with this version.
Same error here. Changing the destination folder worked for me. I suspect it's a directory write permission issue thing in ventura.
Same error here on Ventura 13.1. It does not depend on input files or settings of conversion for output and destination folder (I use Downloads).
I have the same issue with AudioBookBinder 2.4 Ventura 13.0.1. but I created a few books with 2.4 without any issues (smaller ones) - I have now downloaded AudioBookBinder 2.0 from http://bluezbox.com/audiobookbinder.html and the book creation works with the same source files and target directory where 2.4 failed.
As a work around increasing Max Volume Length
in settings seems to fix the issue.
We have run into this issue where previous versions of the app would read the "Max Volume Length" and automatically created more than one output .m4b file. Latest version on Catalina or newer gives same output error. If we manually control the run time, we can continue to create files. Changing the max length didn't fix the issue, but a new folder did.
Recent update to 2.4 (204) on High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042) gives error:
Audiobook binding failed. Can't create output file
Removed 2.4, installed 2.0 then updated to 2.1, error still occurs. Used 2.1 version two days ago without any issues. What did 2.4 change that remains behind after uninstall?
