How could I use chunks data to stream to server? #44

I have played around and stuck with streaming base64 chunk to server. I want to use this for google speech to text. Is there any document to archive this? Thanks for your help!

I already resolve this, basically, data return from on('data', (data) =>{} is base 64 encoded for pcm format. It's almost the same as wav but missing the wav header, so I just figure a way to stream the header first (first 44 bytes of result file), then others chunk come in later.

Hi, I have been spending quite a long time to figure this out where in I am streaming the chunks to a transcription service. Similar example using usermedia in browser works though. Does it require each chunk to have the wave header when send to STT Api? Or just the first time? If possible can you share a sample code how to send the wave header and rest of the chunks from AudioRecord?

@sbsujith You only need to stream the header in the first time, it looks like you are trying to stream one long wav file. I use socket io to emit chunks to server. I think you will figure out how to get first 44 bytes of wav result file (I do it by using file stream of node js and write first 44 bytes to an array in a text file, don't remember exactly) So, frontend will use a function like this to emit chunks

Thats fantastic. Thank you for your help. I will try it out. Are saying that if I change the sample rate ( say, to 44100) the header bytes would also should change?

Thanks again. Can you let me know what should be the wav header bytes for same config except sampleRate = 44100, or direct me to where I can get that info.

If you using for STT, my config is enough and lightweight as well. I'm not sure if the header should be match the config or not (I believe yes)

I get this script from my old git stash, I think I used this to extract wav bytes. You could get the audio which match your setting with this script and then extract header from it

let audioFilePath = await AudioRecord.stop();
const defaultFilePath = path.join(__dirname, '../public/audios/audio3.wav');

export default function extractFileBytes({ filePath = defaultFilePath } = {}) {
  return;
  const readStream = fs.createReadStream(filePath);

    buffer.push(chunk);
    // writeStream.write([...chunk].join(','));

I think it should be writeStream.write(Buffer.concat(buffer)) or any way you could do to get bytes from buffer
