UPNP not displaying usable text #321

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add a folder in xbmc based on a upnp server, such as Playon for something
like netflix.
2. Open the folder via the file browser.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

When doing the browsing with a remote on xbmc for netflix it shows something
like

Browse Genres
Instant Queue
New Arrivals

Via the remote

netflix%2d9e9acad4%...
netflix%2d3a870680%...

(and it continues on like that across the entire screen even in landscape mode.)

What version of XBMC Remote are you using?

0.8.2-beta1

Which Android device are you using (and which ROM, if custom)?

Motorola Droid 2.1 Stock

Which XBMC revision are you running and on which platform?

9.11 r26018 on ubuntu

Please provide any additional information below.

Let me know if you need a screenshot or logs.

That's a general problem of HTTP API (it doesn't give us any labels for special
paths, only the path names). However we could try to parse something more
pretty out of it.

Same problem here. My UPNP source shows '22'..'28' as directory depending on
which option I select (artist/album/genre etc).

Very annoying, since almost all my music is on the UPNP source!

UPNP source : Synology NAS

XBMC-remote version: 0.8.5-beta1

Android device : POV mobii tegra, with different ROM's. All Android v2.2

XMBC-live version : XBMC 10.0 r35648 (build 17 dec 2010)

forgot to mention: this is a defect.

I cannot play any UPNP item, since I am in a perpetual '2x' directory.

Solution:
Mount the upnpdevice as a local disk, add that location in xbmc and problem
solved.

That's a workarround, no solution.
The purpose of that whole UPnP/DLNA circus is not having the user worry about
servers and volumes.
