Posts missing when listing by category

This is a private blog that is not listed 

Where in the process did you encounter an error?
After 'succesful' migration

Describe the error:
The blog appears to work fine but if I select to show posts by category 
then only 20 posts are listed. Those in the category from beforeDec 2008 
are missing. There seems no way to list more posts. 

I can see the posts are there if I list by month and go back earlier in 
time, I can see they have the correct category assigned, they just don't 
appear when I select to list all posts in that category.

How do I fet them showing please?
