Program does not start #3

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. unzip and run draft.exe
2. expected: something happens
3. observed: nothing happens

System specifications were the error occur?
  Operational System: Windows XP
Video Board Model: Intel mobile express 4 series

Nothing appears to happen at all-- basically i think there's an exception
happening on startup. I also tried running from a command line, no messages.
also looked at windows event log to see if anything was there, but nothing
there either.

ok got version 757, installed and ran:

first part loaded was repraptest.stl-- displayed ok but with errors on console.
loaded happy.stl.-- loaded in 45 seconds, but did not display-- errors
presumably in logs

ok, version 758 results:
ran draft.exe.
loaded ok visually, though there were a couple of errors in log
loaded happy.stl ok ( 45 sec )
observed 15 sec time to render after stl loaded according to log
redraw time is very slow-- approx 3 sec between screen repaints
jogwheel: unusable due to speed.

switched to teapot.stl-- loaded ok in 3 sec
slicing speed was very fast-- jog wheel smooth
tried to do simulation: something happened-- it appeared to run through all the
slices as fast as possible-- but time per slice was set to 4 sec so this was
unexpected
went back to regular view and got some error-- then log started spinning so i
had to shut down. end of session

coool... thats not TOO bad!!! At least it worked!!!

Teapot.stl is pretty simple, but here it reports 0 secs to load, not 3...

How fast is your computer, overall?

Do you have some other software installed that you could load happy.stl and let
me known how fast it is?

I would very much like to known how fast it would be in a different software,
like for example, replicatorG!

The simulation runs as fast as possible in your release.

The latest official version now respects the exposition time correctly. Try
that one out!

Ok I will try latest official. My machine is an intel dual core 1.8ghz
with embedded graphics. And 3gb ram from 2008.

The 3 sec pause happened after the log said 'done loading xxx triangles' so
its the display part not the triangle processing id say.

The teapot simulation took about 1 second total to run so it was fairly fast

could you try this version:
http://chemshapes.googlecode.com/files/debugVersion_svn_783.zip

I've upgraded PyOpenGL to the latest alpha version, from feb/2012.

Please try the latest version:

http://chemshapes.googlecode.com/files/CS1_Host_v0.3.1.zip

This version have some bug fixes to increase compatibility with newer gpus.
I've upgraded Python OpenGL to the lastest Alpha, released in February 2012.
The previous one was from 2010.

This upgrade should fix most of the issues encounter by users with Intel GPUs.
It also should fix issues with newer ATI/AMD boards and NVidia GT boards.

Please give it a try and let me known asap!

thanks...
