Using full sets as selections causes problems with de-selecting items

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a data source window (e.g. Tsunami / Earthquake).
2. Drag one of the avatars, say Earthquake, into a newly-opened List view.
3. Drag and drop the Earthquake avatar into the "add selection" spot in the 
same view. This will select everything in the list.
4. Click on some of the items in the list. This completely removes them from 
the list instead of only deselecting them.

Other related issues/unexpected happenings:
- After performing the 4 above steps, dragging the Earthquake avatar from 
anywhere, including the original data source window, into any view causes only 
the items in the List view that weren't removed in step 4 to show up.
- After performing the 4 above steps, do the following:
    (i) Close all open windows.
    (ii) Open a new data source window and a new List view.
    (iii) Drag the same avatar as before (Earthquake) into the list view.
  This will show all the items again, BUT when you hover over the Earthquake avatar, only those which weren't removed in step 4 above are highlighted.
