The ability to fast forward with larger steps would be nice. Trying to seek to
52 minutes takes a long time and is not safe when driving!

I would like all the things suggested above. Especially the direct disk
browsing, simply reading the folder structure in real time as you browse.
I'd also like an easy way to skip to the next or previous album by an Artist,
or the next or previous Artist.
I'd also like the ability to start playback at any level. I have my tracks
organised in Folders, by Genre, then Artist then Album
Root
|_Jazz
|_Grover Washington
|_WineLight
|_Track 1
Track 2...
|_Come Morning
|_Track 1...
At the moment you have to browse right down to the track level to start playing
a track, it then plays all of the tracks in that Folder before either repeating
or stopping.
I'd like to be able to select An Artist and play everything by that artist,
preferably with Shuffle (not Random - ie play every track just once in a random
order).
It should also move on to the next Folder automatically if repeat is not set.
The display should be more customisable. If album art is shown, it should only
show this when a picture exists. If no picture is available for an album, it
should revert to the non art display, rather than showing a big box with a
musical note.

When you are playing a track, and press the back button, it does go back to the
location of that track - unless it's warm or cold booted, or you've done
something else in the meantime. It should always remember where it is in the
track heirarchy. I don't see the problem with writing a small config file to
the card or USB drive to indicate current settings.
