Direct Dial on Clock Click not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.go to dashclock settings -> advanced
2. Clock shortcut -> shortcuts
3. Direct Dial
4. set desired contact
5. click clock to start dialing

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the default dial app to come app (or an activity chooser) and 
directly dial the set number.
What actually happens: nothing.

What version of the product are you using?
DashClock version 1.6

Which device and Android version are you experiencing this issue on?
HTC One X, CM10.2, Android 4.3

Are you using a custom launcher or ROM? If so, which one? Note that custom
launchers and ROMs are not supported.
CM 10.2

Please provide any additional information below.
I have implemented the same intent chooser / saving mechanism in my own app, 
where it doesn't work too.

Edit: I would love to know if this only appears on Cyanogen Mod or other 
devices too. I currently have no non-cyanogen mod device available. Thanks!
