Contact module not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use contact module on page (contact -> contact-form)
2. Send email via page
3. No email sent (although thank you message displayed)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I tried the contact module for 1.9.2 (localhost Win and remote Linux) and
1.10alpha2 (localhost Win)

Please provide any additional information below.

Cannot confirm this bug!

The module definitely works on a productive site with Apache server.

Don't forget to set a "Default email address" and "Default sender" at the 
backend's
site tab!

Must be a server misconfiguration.
