Feature Request, Adding Custom terrain data, or analytical surface. #524

The ability to change terrain data or to create a surface for analysis in 
Google earth via some data mechanism such as:
tiff,
png,
DEM
point cloud array.

an example of terrain data is shown using VE (bing 3D) :

An example of the analytical surface using NASA Worldwind:
http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/demos/AnalyticSurface.jnlp

Of particular interest, in the Worldwind example, zoom into Washington State 
for annual percipitation display surface.

After some more searching for similar feature requests, I cam across:

the poster for Issue 462 brings up some excellent 

Perhaps this could be achieved by an extension to the GroundOverlay 

Having an elevation overlay with time functionality would provide a great deal 
of utility for those in natural sciences (biology, geology ect..) and 
engineering (civil, environmental)
