3.1 Release Date #133

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The goal date to release 3.1 is 4th July, 2010. Major tasks will be completed
before release, and delay release if not ready. Minor tasks will delay release
for up to a week (11th) if that will be enough to finish them. After release,
3.1 will only receive fixes.

Major tasks outstanding:
Issue 68: IDFeed reader
- admin panel running reliably.
- feed page running reliably.
- cron job running reliably.
- 3.0 idfeed page running reliably.
Minor issues outstanding:
Issue 67: Set board owner by name.
Issue 74: Remove HTML from PHP source.
Issue 76: Structures on killmails.
Issue 131: File verification

So, any other issues to add?

Issue 103: Add Icons for Rouge Drone and W Space NPCs

The release won't be held up for red drone icons, sorry. Although if we have
icons, they will be added.

I run the icons through some nice filters that anti-alias the images and
whatnot usually. So if it's really wanted I can add them in as long as one
doesn't have to go looking further than the image packs that CCP releases.

We surely must also be a few images behind with blueprints too. And while I'm
thinking about it, are we going to remove the corporation logo generator images
now that we use CCP's image generator?

We might as well remove the corp logo generator. I don't trust the CCP image
generator yet but it will be easy to add the EDK one back in if we need to.

I haven't had time to do any more on the idfeed thing. I think it's just a
matter of getting the 3.0 version working for boards that don't want to update
yet and general testing. An extra week will also give us time to be sure the
changes for the latest patch are all working.

So, the 10th is the new final final date.

I take it issue 74 is still an issue? What needs to be done.... i might be able
to contribute a little.

74 is still an issue but unless you're going to get a lot done in the next few
days then it will be put off for 3.2. Have a look and see if you think you
will. Whether 3.1 or 3.2, it would be great if you can.

Are we holding out for the minor issues before releasing 3.1? I may be
persuaded to attempt issue 67 in the meantime...

I was planning to release it in the next day but I don't mind putting it back a
tiny bit more. That'll give me more time to do the last 3.0.9 update

No new commits after 5-6 days.. Perhaps it's time :)

Yes, it's time. I've been a bit snowed under or I would have prepared it last
weekend. I've removed issue 74 and issue 131 as blocking.

Final tasks are:
Last check with a fresh install
Last check of an update of a 3.0 board.
Update cache/checksums.sha1
Branch 3.1
Tag 3.1.0
Release zip installer
Make a new forum post

Oh, and add anything to the README.txt that you think was missed or should be
expanded.

Due to the update bug in 3.0, if we add this to the auto-update it will try to
back up the entire board, images included. This will usually fail due to
timeouts or memory limits. I think a rename of board directory and upload of
the new is the best approach. A blank 3.0.9-3.1.0 update can be added.

We need to improve the auto-update handling of this sort of thing. Maybe use
the revision recorded in globals.php, or an admin option to reset the value in
the db to that?

All done (bar auto-update which can wait a week or two to see how 3.1.0 goes).

Now everything breaks. ^^
