1.1 Crash on scraping #43

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
These are the steps I did before the crash happened

1. Delete all plugin files / xml files / old logs / process plugins /
fanart directory / fanart database
2. Fresh install of 1.1
3. Change max images per artist from 3 -> 1
4. Start a scrape (I notice that it's downloading 3 per artist despite the
change of setting)
5. Try and move the scroll bar during the scrape
6. Approx 90 secounds later I got this crash

What sversion of the Fanart Handler plugin are you using?
MP 1.1 + SVN / XP SP3 / Fanart Handler 1.1

You'll notice I attached 2x fanarthandler.org
The 1st version is from MP Database directory, the 2nd version is from MP
Application data directory.

What skin and version of the skin are you using?

Please provide any additional information below.

This I can confirm as well, I'm sure it's also related to my previous issue
concerning scroll bar. I re-entered config after I had already done a partial
scrape
and did a reset and then started scrape again. I could move the scrollbar this
time
during scrape, it jumped to the top each time an imaged was downloaded. I moved
the
scrollbar up and down several times, and got these errors that kiwijunglist is
reporting. My list window cleared and showed a red X box. The scraping continued
behind the error boxes. I stopped scrape. On exit I got a fatal error in config
and
it quit.

After clean install.

first entry into config. made sttings changes and saved.

In manager, started initial scrape. I waited until the window was full of
names. I
noticed that the scroll bar did not top and bottom arrows. I tried to move the
scrollbar and got the 'busy' cursor, scraping halted. did not get an error
message. I
had to kill the handler with Task Manager.

I reentered config. Went to manager and the scroll bar was displayed properly.
Scrolling operations and image selection worked properly. I deleted all images
(yay!
it works!) and started a new scrape, after reseting. This time when the window
was
full, the scroll bar was displayed correctly, scrolling action worked during the
scrape, as did use of the arrows, cursor keys and image selection.

I'm not sure why the initial attempt failed, the handler-config.logs merely
stopped
at the error, without any indication. But the second attempt worked flawlessly.
Maybe
I should redo the fresh install the try to duplicate it.

I did a fresh install with deleted database/skinart files etc.
I don't get any working scroll bars during the scrape, however no crash (which
is
what I care about)

So for me this issue is fixed in 1.2

After I noticed errors in the artist name list in the manager decided to try to
reproduce the issue. I deleted the db only. started config and entered manager.
I did
a reset, then started a new scrape. Again the scrollbar was not displayed
properly
once the window filled. No scrolling operation worked, use of cursor keys had no
effect, image selection did not work.

This time, scraping continued. But pressing the Stop Scraper button had no
effect.
I'm going to let the scraping finish (and have breakfast)

Fanart is finished scraping. scrollbar looked normal now (with up/down arrows)
Trying
to scroll the list did not work. The 'busy' cursor appeared and program became
unresponsive, could not exit with the exit button. Closed the window with the
'X' and
got the system error message, hit 'okay' and window closed.

Reentered config and all scrolling functions worked again. Even after deleting
fanart
and rescraping. Scrolling the list worked even while scraping.

sorry... additional issue.

When stopping scrape midway, then trying to scroll before the stop function is
resolved hangs the plugin (I was just a little too fast).

buttons remain ghosted and must exit MP config with Task Manager.

Otherwise, All scrolling functions during first scrape worked without issue

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. I'm unable to reproduce this last issue. Can
anyone else
try this and see if it hangs? Please..

Maybe just a small message when you press 'stop scrape'.... 'Please Wait'. If it
doesn't take long, then it just flashes ... if it takes longer, then someone
(like
me) won't try to do anything else too soon.

:D

Hi,

I will disable scrolling when user press the stop scraping button and enable

The disabled scroll bar is successful. I'm waiting for a full scrape to finish
now.

btw... there were no save and exit buttons on this version.

Hi,

Thanks, good that we can finally close this one ;) About the save and close.
Press the
[X] at top right of the dialog box and you will have the choice to exit or save
and
exit.
