Ensure Reinstall/Update of Plugin does not require re scraping of fanart #5

I know I raised this issue in the forum during Beta testing and you
replied that once Ver 1.0 was released it would no longer be required.

However, there were no major changes between RC2 and Ver 1.0 afaik, and
yet still music fanart had to be deleted and re scraped.

So I am just recording the issue, so you can verify this will not be
required for future releases.

Any decent database can reindex based on existing data as long as the
database structure has not drastically changed.

Hi,

Why did you have to do a re-scrape between RC2 and 1.0? I did not have to do
that, just
installed MPI and all was fine. What steps did you do when installing that led
you to
re-scrape?

best regards

I just followed your install instructions posted on forum and here on Wiki:

If you have installed the Beta or Release Candidate versions of this skin,
please
follow these steps to install.
1. copy your fanart in the /thumbs/skin fanart/music to a backup location
*2 delete all fanart in the /thumbs/skin fanart/music folder*
3. copy your /database/fanarthandler.db3 file to a backup location
4. delete your /database/fanarthandler.db3 file
5. install the MPI file (link).

Hi,

Ah, now I see. I thought that you had just installed the MPI file and was
afraid that
it didn't work as an upgrade.

The reason for me adding that to the install guide was that I want everyone to
have a
clean installation when using v1.0. Makes it easier for me tracking down errors.

Having said that for users having a good running RC2 they could just have
clicked the
MPI file and all had been upgraded and all scraped images and database indexes
and so
on would have been kept. I have tried it and it works great. Sorry for not
making
this clear and the extra work it caused you.

I will no close this issue if it is ok?

best regards

Yes, that is fine. I wanted to be clear so I can support aMPed users properly
and
to confirm that indeed you do not need to re-scrape.

However, since I had to re-scrape all mine - you owe me one!! LOL (just
kidding)
