Does it possible to implement output filter support for thumbnails ?
Like: grayscale, blending or other simple filters.

Sorry for the late response but I moved to a new place and switched jobs so 
time was
not on my side :-)

I just commited some changes that allow you to add custom filters to the
videothumbnailer. I made a grayscale filter as an example and also implemented 
the
filmstripoverlay as a filter. You can use these filters as a reference to 
implement
your own filters.

Hope this works for you.
If you have created new interesting filters, you could share them with me so I 
can
add them.
