I wonder if you could implement a selection for "New mail icon settings",
where one can select or deselect folders for notification?

I did this feature. Look at

I did not notice your request before, we wanted the same feature in about the 
moment :)

Nice work, but unfortunately this is not exactly what I meant. I was also 
looking for
the possibility to select or deselect folders of a single mail account.

definitely needed in my case: imap account + filters that move messages into 
specific folders.
