Would that be OK if emails were obfuscated until the user solves a captcha,
like here on Google Code?

That would be better. gaewiki is so good that it deserves much more users.
Maybe there are some people who like to jointly edit a wiki but do not like to
share their personal emails. After all, the basic problem is that google uses
exactly the gmail account name as nickname.
Thanks for quick reply.
Best wishes.

Maybe we could:
1. create a unique and random wiki_name for each new user;
2. allow them to change their wiki_name whenever they want, if the new
wiki_name is unique,
3. there is a new db keeping the google.nickname and wiki_name.
Now there must be no privacy concern at all and people who like to show their
email address could create their own profile page :)

This issue was updated by revision 1dc0da48099b.
Users can now edit their visible nicknames and emails at /w/profile.
