SportTracks hangs after bad Garmin Communicator version

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run the setup wizard when the currently installed version of Garmin 
Communicator is less than 3.0.
2. When the "Import or edit profile" window comes up (5th window of the setup 
wizard), select "Import my profile from my unit" and click Next.
3. When the error window comes up indicating that the current version of Garmin 
Communicator is out of date, click OK.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would expect the program to revert to the SportTracks setup screen, but 
instead the program freezes and the only way I have found to stop it is through 
ending the task in Windows Task Manager.

I realize the solution to this is to upgrade Garmin Communicator, but it would 
be nice if the plug-in handled this error more gracefully.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

SportTracks v. 3.1.4415
Garmin Fitness v. 1.1.471
Garmin Communicator v. 2.9.3.0
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

What Garmin unit are you using?

If the problem is with import/export to device, please specify the Garmin
Communicator Plugin version you are using.
